"Kundiman"/ Filipino Love Poem

Jm Benavidez Estoque

Ah! Like a flame that casts out the burning love from this heart...
wishing, longing, ... and wooing for thy love!
Oh... Love that's so sweet as the gentle Philippine breeze
...and whose mild fervors ever chant in endless hyms!

You're a kind... a God's gift indeed!
... for suddenly you came like an angel's wind
... whose light comes from endless joyous heavens
... and bringeth thou spell to my mournful soul!

Oh why? Why... that from my every dreams
even to every wonders I've come to soar,
... and even to all the beauty's delight?
...Nothing I could see... nothing but thy face so lovely and so sweet?

Beautiful are the stars above twinkling every night!
... that sparkles and shines to my dark lonely sky.
Oh! A lovely shining star like your sparkling beautiful eyes...
Ah... so mild and lovely it was! every time I look upon thy temperate face!

When could I feel again?
Either... when could hear, see, and fall once more?
... the goddess of beauty I've never seen
whose brings nothing but the joys of the heart!

I fall for you! My heart... and my soul!
In your face you'd conquered and enslaved
...this lonely heart of mine who'd found colours!
... this solitarist mind who suddenly shouted, "Ah! Life is Beautiful Afterall!"

Love maybe is so sweet and charming...
that every time my heart thinks of you...
I jumps with joy!... a smile from my lips, ... a tears from my eyes...
whose voice keep saying, "Ah! It's good to be in love!"

What a beautiful romantic sentiments!
Yes, it's beautiful to be in love ... for "Love encompasses all".

I like the classic Romance Poetry because there is truly the grasp of beautiful feelings the poet conveys compared to the romantic modernism where lust prevails.

Pardon me if I am wrong, but that is just how I discern it.

Then keep moving! I mean writing. If you go back to my poetry site: Morphing Words by poetry,

in there you will find Brosreview. I encourage you to invite him read your English Poetry, the translation, because he does Poetry and Musical Review.

I am sure he will appreciate Pilipino Literature in Poetry.

All the best.

Request: My daughter is getting married this Sunday, I wonder if you can write for me a Poem for her and her fiance.

I want to write, but it seems I'm not in my element to write poetry at this stage. What a pity! Too much on my plate.

Thank you very much.

That is an excellent translation and very dramatic. Love the feelings that emanates from your words...and love? is always an enchanted love. BTW, about the template, you can have a lot of them at ourblogtemplates.com and thanks for the suggestion on my scrap, it was an unfinished page actually, heheheh...am starting another blog too, will publish it later.

Yes, this is very romantic! Also, I am linking this with both a woman and the country itself. Well, to me, it works both ways. Nicely done! Keep writing!!!
