Kundiman 2/ Filipino Love Song 2

Jm Benavidez Estoque

I.

I.
There’s no other delight shall this soul be exalted
Than to see from thy lips your beautiful smile!
… whose tears and heavy sighs be lost and gone
…whose from distress and grievance of yours, shall I see a morning’s delight

II.
There’s no other delight shall this heart be at ease
…whose through looking with your eyes, heavenly bliss shall I find!
That even from this grave yoke cursed unto my soul, Oh how light it was!
…oh times when I see from thy self, at ease and with no harm.

III.
There’s no other delight shall this heart would ever find joy
… that form the tearful eyes be wiped and consoled!
No more mournful nights… nor pain nor sufferings
…but a new bright dawn rising from your arms!

IV.
Oh Philippines, my beloved land! Land of my nativity! Of my birth! Of my Beginnings!
…What’s the use of these mournful tears ever rolling from this face?
Even this loneliness and pain that again I am experiencing…
If they are for cause… and again and again… I shall always offer!

V.
Oh really there’s no other thing as great! As honourable!
Than from this very blood, vapour …and all sufferings and pain
Nothing but to offer all… for this oppressed mother so beloved…
To see one day that from your eyes that suffered for so long
… shall rise again in the midst of the new bright dawn!
