Sa malayo'y nagliliyab sa tanaw
ang mga dahon, kumakaway, tila
ningas ng mga kandilang nakatirik
tungo sa landas ng limot na kalbaryo.

Sa ibabaw ng mga dahon ay sayaw
ng mga saranggola, mistulang ibong-
apoy, sa lubid ng mga batang
may marka ng abo sa noo.

Sa mukha ng mga bata ay panatang
dala ng kasiyahan at kalungkutan:
kumakatok sa apat na pintuan ng hangin
at liwanag. Ngunit anong kasunduan

ang nag-uugnay sa singaw at silab?
Sa paglagablab ng langit na tila
hinuhusgahan ng apoy ang sighi ng rosas
pati ang talinghaga sa ulayaw ng mga ibon.

Alipato ang alapaap. Nag-aalab
ang parang. Walang banta ang kulog
at ulan na para bang sumisilab
sa laman ang kararating na tag-araw.
